Our Mission
The mission of Paulet Literacy Services (PLS) is to empower individuals to become effective communicators within a social setting and have an insatiable appetite for learning. This will be accomplished through different texts, assessment driven tutoring, and practical training and consultancy.
PLS is a company that produces children’s books and merchandise, literacy intervention, and professional training consultancy. The team takes pride in the delivery of each product so that clients are satisfied. Team members are committed to the slogan: Literacy is Light. PLS believes literacy is more than the ability to read and write; it is communication within a social setting.
About the President
Paulet Facey is a licensed Special and General Education teacher with the New State Department of Education. Facey is an author of children’s books, an academic intervention specialist and a professional development trainer who is committed to the literacy development in her students. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Literacy, master’s in Special/General education, and a doctorate in Reading and Literacy.
Dr. Facey attributes her love for literacy to her favorite elementary/primary school teacher Mrs. Burke and the Sisters at Mount Alvernia High School, her alma mater in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Facey fondly remembers the experience of multiple times winning the Harmony in the Homes competition, a literacy contest that gave winners the opportunity to receive airplane trips to meet the Head of State, stays at exotic hotels and dinners at five-star restaurants.
“Mount Alvernia used literacy to allow me to get a glimpse of the world that was impossible for me to imagine. Those prizes and exposure at a tender stage in my development have taught me to think big and claim extraordinary favor. Since then, I rarely have run-of-the-mill expectations. It was that epiphany that has informed the way I instruct my students. Now, I try to make the learning experience transport my students to uncharted possibilities.”
Facey was born in Jamaica, West Indies; she is a retired educator who has taught all grades from K-14, so she has a clear understanding of the full spectrum of literacy.
